The rest of our weekend...

Saturday was so busy that we decided to just relax on Sunday as a family. In the morning we had Aedan open up all his presents before my sister and her family left. He loved everything and had so much fun. None of us wanted to actually wrap the presents so we just folded them up in his blankets for him to open. It was silly but he didn't care.
He got some little CARS books and some swords (along with other stuff) from Grandma, Grandpa and Maegan that he LOVED!! He got some Diego stuff and Jr Mints (he loves those) from Aunt Tammy and family and he got some CARS cars and UNO Moo from us. I really wanted to get him a game this year since he's 3 now and most games are at least 3+. He loves UNO Moo and is pretty good at it. :) Here are some fun pictures of him opening presents and then sword fighting with Maegan.

Aedan "died":

The rest of the day was spent watching the Twilight movies since my Mom hadn't seen them (she hasn't read the books yet either!). She had made cupcakes for Aedan's birthday and somehow Cali managed to keep getting her hands on them. She'd walk in with a big cupcake and chocolate face.

One thing that made all of us laugh really hard that Cali did:
She has been trying to dress herself lately and will try to put on anything that she finds whether she is already clothed or not. She walked into the living room and had a pair of pants on below her other pants. It was the 1st time she had actually gotten both legs in by herself so that was exciting but the funny part was that she kept walking around and playing with these pants at her knees.

On Monday before we left the kids got out the rocking horse and were rocking on it. I think it was Cali's 1st time on it and she was cracking up. She thought it was so fun! They took turns riding it and even Maegan got on it for a minute.

M3 Taco company's launch party!!

One of my best friends from jr high & high school just started a business with her hubby. Geoff did their logo, business cards and stuff so we wanted to go see what it was all about. They had their launch party yesterday so went went straight there after Papa's funeral. We got there super late but it was so fun to see Christy and Tony and meet their adorable daughter Alyssa. I hadn't seen Christy in years so it was fun to hang out for a while and talk. After we left Geoff said he could see why we were such good friends in high school because we have such similar cute personalities. :)
At one point I looked over and Cali had climbed up on a chair and was sneaking some chips. She was sneaking them all night. Aedan and Cali had so much fun playing with Alyssa, Christy's brother Rob and his daughter Chloe. Aedan found one of Alyssa's guns and would shoot at Rob and he would pretend to die and Aedan would crack up. He'd never played guns before and had a blast watching Rob's reactions. Rob had as much energy as the kids and let Aedan chase him all over the yard. Then he went down the slide with the kids and Cali became his little buddy on the slides. She also went down the slide a few times with Alyssa and loved that!

Tony and Christy posing in their awesome shirts Geoff designed for them. Tony is modeling the front while Christy is modeling the back at the same time. They are so cool!

Papa's Funeral

Papa's funeral was yesterday afternoon. It was a beautiful day! We had a memorial service in one of the chapels at Rose Hills where a few people spoke about Papa, Tammy and I sang, and my brother Curtis read a letter that my brother Kevin had written about Papa. He wrote a perfect tribute to our Papa and I'm not sure there were any dry eyes after it was read. I was glad Tammy and I sang before it was read. :)
I took a lot of pictures because Kevin couldn't be there and I wanted him to be able feel like he was. Papa was in the Marines during WWII so there was a flag on his coffin and when we went to the grave sight there were Marines waiting to pay tribute. I had never seen that done before and it was awesome. They play the trumpet, salute Papa, fold up his flag and bring it to Grandma, talk to her and then salute her. It was very touching and I think all of us were proud to be grandchildren of such an amazing man who served his country so honorably.
I think the saddest moment me and a few of my cousins was when my Grandma was talking about Papa and said "I'm really going to miss him. I've lost my best friend." We all got very teary and it made me think about what a wonderful example they are of a long life lived married to their best friend. They married young and were married for 69 years and were so truly happy together.

After the beautiful tribute, we all laid flowers on the coffin and said our goodbyes.

We all went over to my Grandma's house after for a yummy lunch and to visit with family. Even though it was sad circumstances, it was nice to see family. It's always great to see my cousins. Cali ate some yummy strawberries and got it all over her face and shirt. My cousin's wife Erin thought her strawberry face was so cute so I had to share it. :) The kids just wandered around while us adults chatted.
