Eternal Valentine

This is Geoff. I have decided to high-jack Christy's blog just for today.

I want to tell the world, (well, at least all that read this blog) that I love Christy and that she is the greatest. On this Valentine's Day, I want to make sure that she knows that I am glad that she is my wife, and I am honored to be her husband.

I love our cuddly times, which have decreased substantially since the kids, but that makes the cuddly times even more special.

She is a wonderful mother to our children. She loves them with her whole heart and wants to give them everything good in this world. I love that she loves taking pictures and sharing them. I think it is a wonderful thing to catalog memories, take note and enjoy the simple things in life.

I love that she "saves" me money, like,  constantly. With out her, I would definitely be broke.

Our trip to the ER...

Yesterday Cali had her 4 month check-up and everything was great! She's super tall and a little on the skinny side (we're working on fattening her up!) but very healthy. She had her shots and we headed home. 

Fast forward a few hours to Cali's bedtime. I gave her some tylenol because she was a little fussy from her shots. She felt a little warm but nothing crazy. My little angel who sleeps so well was up again before midnight and was super hot! I took her temp and it said 102.7 (she felt hotter!) which made me a little nervous. I'm not exactly sure when you're supposed to get nervous but her doctor had said that if she gets a temp of 102 or higher to let him know (because of the shots). So, I decided to try giving her some tylenol to see if her temp went down. At 2 she woke up again and was still 102.7 so I decided to call the doctors office and speak to the on-call person. She said to take Cali to the E.R. so we loaded up Cali and I took her so Geoff could stay home with Aedan. The amazing thing was that when we got there the place was empty! How often do you see an E.R. with nobody waiting? Well, I was grateful and we went right in. 

They decided to run tests to see what the fever was. I hadn't thought that far ahead so now all I could think about was her being poked all over! They put in a catheter to get a urine sample and put in an IV to give her some fluids. Luckily they took her blood from the IV so that was one less poke. Of course the nurse didn't get the needle in the vein right away so she had to poke around for it. YIKES! I was a little emotional during the whole thing... I guess I'm a wussy mom. :) They were so great with Cali though and so gentle and I really appreciated that since she was already having a rough night. They also took a chest x-ray and once they were all done with that I rocked Cali to sleep and then put her in her stroller to rest. I got some pictures of her with her IV. They put her arm in a splint thing to keep it still so it looks a little crazy but really it's just for the IV. She did pretty well considering and didn't cry as much as I thought she would have. She was a little trooper! Still... her eyes were pretty red and puffy from it all. :)

She woke up when I put her in her seat but luckily fell asleep again. I had to make sure and put her in there so the cords weren't squished. :) She had a pulse monitor thing taped to her toe too.

So, we waited a little bit (not to long since we might have been the only patients) and they came in to tell us it's pneumonia. It is mild though so they gave her some antibiotics and a prescription for the rest and we got to go home. We got home around 6:30 so I fed her and put her to bed (she was exhausted!) and I was so grateful that Geoff was able to stay home for a little bit before going to work so I could sleep a few hours. 

So, I had my first E.R. experience (with my kids) and I'm glad it was nothing serious. Good practice for the possibility of other E.R. visits (I do have a boy afterall!).   :)

Double Stroller...

So, last week we finally got a double stroller! I know... Cali is 4 months old and we should have had one by now! I wanted to wait until she could sit in one so I wouldn't necessarily have to get one that her seat would snap into. Well, it turns out that the one I decided on you are able to snap her seat into so that's kinda funny. 

Anyway... I've been wanting to go walking and haven't been able to because of this and I haven't gone very many places without either Geoff or Lisa to help me with the kids. So, now that I have my fabulous stroller I've been out and about getting stuff done AND I've been able to go walking!! I've definitely been realizing what it's like for moms with more than one kid (infant/toddler age) who are super busy. My hats go off to you!

I love my new stroller so I thought I'd let everyone know how excited I am about it! Yesterday when we were all ready for our afternoon walk I took a few pictures so now you can see how cute it is (really it's just a typical Graco stroller but I love the pattern... that isn't really visible).

The kids enjoy our walks too, especially Aedan! He LOVES going outside but I can't hold Cali and chase him around so this way we both win... I get to go on walks and he gets to go outside. He loves it!

Also, this morning Aedan got into some hair stuff I used to use. It helps your hair get a little funky. He used to watch me use it so he knew exactly what to do. So, I got a picture of what his hair looked like:

Aedan update...

Since Aedan will be 2 in March I was thinking about how much he's grown in the last few months! He's learned a ton so I thought I'd do a quick update on what he's up to.

He's learning the alphabet right now and probably knows almost half of the letters (not in order... just random ones). His favorite letter is O.

He's starting to sign the alphabet too but can only do up to G (He's been signing words for a while though).

He's learning his colors and knows red, yellow & blue so far.

He's saying TONS of words and is starting to talk in sentences.

He copies EVERYTHING we say (yikes!)!

He loves taking baths because his alphabet letters that stick to the wall are in there.

He loves watching "Little Einsteins" and "Super Why" in the mornings. He also loves his alphabet DVD.

He loves when we read him stories.

He LOVES to dance anytime he hears music!!

He loves cars! He gets excited anytime he sees one... his favorite feature on the car is the wheels. Anything with wheels is super cool!

He loves to talk and will talk anyones ear off (mostly gibberish)! He will put any phone up to his ear and talk & laugh like he's having a real conversation.

He loves to pretend he's leaving (for work I think). He gives mommy a kiss ("tiss"), waves, says goodbye ("bye bye") and then goes into anywhere with a door (including closets) and shuts it behind him. This is what Daddy does when he leaves so Aedan thinks he should do it too.

His favorite thing is when Daddy comes home! He loves playing with him.

A few weeks ago Geoff was changing him into his jammies and he escaped. He was standing there and looked like he was posing for a photo shoot. We say he looks like an Abercrombie model in this picture (isn't it funny?):

Cali update...

She is getting so big! She's almost 4 months now and is so tall! She rolled over last week for the 1st time and HATED it! She's also getting her first tooth. It'll be here any day... I can feel it just below the surface. She loves to smile and giggle, especially in the morning. Tonight Aedan was talking to her which made her smile really big and then he laughed and it made her laugh harder than I've seen yet. It was the cutest thing! I love watching them interact.

A special visit...

My friend Michelle, one of my favorite people, came to Vegas with her daughter Stella! Her parents also came which was awesome since I love them too. Michelle is a very talented photographer and while she was here we did a photo shoot (pictures to be posted soon) and we went to dinner. Aedan and Stella had a pretty good time... they were looking at each other across the table so finally us Mommies got the hint and sat them together so they could play.

Momma's Boy

The other night Lisa & Wade were over and Wade drew a tatoo on Aedan's arm  that was pretty cute. Aedan wasn't sure what was going on but didn't mind showing it off.

For the big game yesterday we went to Lisa & Wade's to watch it with them and some of Lisa's family. The Pittsburg Steelers have been my team since I was in the 5th grade so I was so excited that were playing and even more excited when they WON!!! Yeah! 

Lisa and I are funny because we don't watch a single football game all season but enjoy watching the Superbowl. Why? We just started doing it one year when one of our roommates wanted to watch the game and we decided we'd watch it with her. We thought it wouldn't be that interesting but it ended up being pretty fun. Plus... who turns down a good excuse to sit around eating junk food? :)

Well, Aedan was watching the game here and there and is in this stage where he copies everything. If the TV is on he copies whatever the people are doing, especially if there is music involved. So, he decided to make a few touchdowns of his own and get excited. Wade was making lemonade so Aedan took a lemon and here's how it went:
